Shanghai partners with China Mobile on smart city projects

Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision (SMBQTS) signed a strategic cooperation deal with China Mobile Group Shanghai Co Ltd on July 19.
The two sides will work together on a number of smart city and internet of things-related projects, and to push forward Shanghai's "internet + quality supervision" policy.
Huang Xiaolu, director of SMBQTS, and Chen Li, head of China Mobile Shanghai, attended the signing ceremony.
"Quality and technical supervision authorities need to grasp the significant opportunities presented by the development of artificial intelligence and big data technology," said Huang.
"Additionally, Shanghai's "internet + quality supervision" policy can be established with the support of the IT infrastructure and technical research expertise of China Mobile Shanghai,” he added.
SMBQTS and China Mobile Shanghai are expected to cooperate closely to speed up the construction of IT infrastructure and the internet of things in Shanghai.
This will include an IoT project for the city's elevators, a push to roll out next-generation IT networks, as well as a series of projects to use internet technology make the bureau's quality supervision work more efficient.
