SMBQTS calls to intensify quality inspections in tech sector

The Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Quality Inspection and Technical Supervision (SMBQTS) held its 2017 Science and Technology Working Conference at the Shanghai Institute of Measurement and Testing Technology (SIMT) on Feb 24 to determine the layout and schedule of primary work and reforms concerning the science and technology sector in 2017.
Representatives from SIMT, the Shanghai Special Equipment Examination Institute (SSEI), the Shanghai Institute of Quality Inspection and Technical Research (SQI) and the Shanghai Institute of Quality and Standardization (SIS) attended the conference, hearing a key speech delivered by Lu Min, chief engineer of SMBQTS.
Lu emphasized the importance of quality control in the science and technology sector. He instructed all branch offices and agencies to speed up major project and industry research and development, and to boost the progress and innovation of major projects including the Zhangjiang National Science Center and tasks of the 13th Five-Year Plan. He also urged all associated branches to make full use of emerging technologies such as the internet, big data, and artificial intelligence to improve the management, efficiency and inspection capabilities of their laboratories.
Lu stressed the importance of ramping up the training of prospective talents and fostering cooperation with local key research institutes, like Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) and Fudan University, to create a favorable and vigorous environment for innovation and teamwork.
He concluded his speech with proposals for new and traditional media to be utilized to increase public awareness of quality control and inspections within the science and technology sector.
